Coception of refrigeration station EER

The power consumption of refrigeration station usually drew more attention because it account for a large proportion of total energy consumption of the construction whether it is large-scale building or industrial areas. 

Internationally, the EER integrated energy efficiency ratio of American HVAC Association is generally used as an evaluation criterion for the energy consumption of refrigeration stations.

 

 

In the actual operation, EER of 90% of the existing building is about 3, it means the refrigeration station is urgently need to be improved. 

The poor efficiency during low load is the main problem.

 

 

The annual EER of the refrigeration station depends on the energy efficiency of the chiller, pump and the cooling tower

 

 


 

System EER influencing factors

  • The causes of partial load are due to the most unfavorable load configuration in the system, the system load changed with climate, the demand of end changed, with large and frequent variables;

  • The response state of the system equipment to the variables and the mutual influence after their respective responses;

  • The effects of physical properties (scaling, resistance, cavitation) of system circulating conduct medium on the performance of the equipment;

  • The effect of system operation & management method on the operation efficiency of each equipment.

 

 

Refrigeration system variables are complex, the mutual influence between the equipment is difficult to predict, the traditional fuzzy adaptive model is difficult to achieve the best thermal performance and operational effectiveness.

Standard Condition of Cooling Tower Unit

Standard testing condition of cooling tower is based on standard system flow. Only with the standard system flow, the standard water level in plates and the perfect nozzle spray, as well as the uniformed filler film can be realized, so that the standard film area and enough effictive wind flow can be reached. In consequence, the standard cooling perfomance can be realized ,that means standard inlet/outlet water temperature under standard wet bulb temperature.

 

Water imbalance when several cooling towers linked

In the linked cooling towers system, the design and model selection of cooling tower is based on standard condition. But the system is under various condition, and partial load in most of time. When the system flow changed, the inlet/outlet water imbalance will occur, then the cooling performance will be out of control with a higher cooling water temperature as the result, at the same time, the problem of suction and overflower will also appearred.
